PRIMARY LEAK CONTAINMENT & SPILL CONTROL
Nobody heard the diaphragm give out over the steady chug-chug-chug of the AODD pump. But at 4:45 PM on a Friday, Josh caught that unmistakable whiff – grease trap waste. The most unholy combination of rancid oils and food particles was already pooling on the shop floor, oozing from the failed pump like industrial sludge.
"Kill the air!" he shouted, breathing through his sleeve. The PTFE diaphragm had finally surrendered after months of flexing back and forth through millions of cycles, choosing the worst possible moment to spray its foul contents across the concrete. Three hours, several ruined sets of boots, and missed dinner plans later, they had the mess cleaned up. Some say on quiet nights you can still catch a whiff of that spill. Thank goodness they weren’t pumping something acidic.
As anyone familiar with the function of an AODD pump can attest, pump diaphragms will fail. When they do, process fluid is expelled through the pump’s air exhaust port, spilling into the environment. Spills can result in significant expense due to lost product, hazardous material cleanup, EPA reporting, and system downtime. More importantly, spills resulting from pump diaphragm failure put employees at risk of serious injury.
PREVENT PRODUCT LOSS AND HAZARDOUS SPILLS
A Blacoh SPILLSTOP™ Leak Prevention & Spill Containment System can prevent this, saving everyone involved a lot of time and hassle. This fully-pneumatic device attaches to the exhaust of an AODD pump. When the diaphragm fails, process fluid is captured by the SPILLSTOP’s housing receptacle instead of spilling on the floor. As spilled fluid is captured, an internal float rises and closes the air supply's shut off valve. In turn, this shuts down the failed pump, preventing further fluid from escaping.
The SPILLSTOP can be equipped with an optional warning alarm whistle, pneumatic-to-electric switch to power warning lights or connect to a SCADA panel, and additional pump shutoff valves for multiple pumps, high suction tank applications, and/or backup pump startup.
- Available in a variety of materials and configurations with custom models on request.
- Compatible with all AODD pumps from 1/4" (6.35mm) to 4” (1001.6mm).
- Save thousands of dollars in product loss, system downtime, hazardous cleanup, and EPA reporting.
- Attaches directly to AODD pump exhaust—no need for extra pipe.
- Fully pneumatic—no batteries or electronics required.
- Optional warning whistle/lights, connect to SCADA panel, or backup pump startup.
- Proudly made in the USA.

CAN YOU AFFORD NOT TO HAVE IT?
Unmonitored spills are very expensive considering the costs of product loss, system downtime, hazardous cleanup, and EPA reporting. By preventing a single spill, SPILLSTOP will more than pay for itself in product savings alone.
For example, a 3,000 gallon spill was prevented after SPILLSTOP units were installed by a major paint manufacturer on all AODD pumps in their transfer facility. Furthermore, SPILLSTOP prevented multiple spills when pump diaphragms ruptured at a US chemical plant, saving $20,000 to $100,000 per spill in hazardous waste cleanup costs.
