Reliable Rosin Size Dosing

Problem:

A pulp and paper facility required highly accurate and reliable rosin size dosing as part of its pulp treatment process. The application demanded precise chemical control to ensure consistent paper quality, while also providing uninterrupted operation in the event of pump maintenance or failure.

Given the critical nature of rosin sizing, the customer needed a fully integrated dosing system that could deliver accuracy and reliability throughout continuous operation.

Solution:

A skid mounted dosing package was engineered using LMI Excel XR smart metering pumps installed in a 2+R configuration, providing two duty pumps with one redundant standby pump to ensure continuous operation.

To stabilize flow and protect downstream piping and injection points, a BLACOH pulsation dampener (CTS1020W 5) was incorporated into the system. The dampener minimized pulsation from the metering pumps, improving dosing consistency and reducing mechanical stress within the system.

This integrated skid solution combined precision dosing, redundancy, and pulsation control into a single, reliable package tailored for pulp and paper processing.

The completed rosin size dosing system delivers consistent, accurate chemical injection while ensuring uninterrupted operation and long term reliability. Key benefits include:
